Empowering Participants Through Our Cooking Program

At Core Assist, we believe that cooking is more than just a daily task—it’s a valuable life skill that fosters independence, creativity, and personal well-being. Recently, our participants had an amazing time whipping up a Mexican feast as part of our Cooking Program! From prepping and cutting to cooking their own meals, they gained hands-on experience and learned valuable skills that will serve them well in their everyday lives.

Our Cooking Program is designed to teach participants how to prepare healthy meals and cook independently, with a focus on practical skills and boosting confidence in the kitchen. During the program, participants not only master cooking techniques but also have the opportunity to create their own cookbooks, filled with the recipes they’ve cooked throughout the program.

Program Outcomes

  • Create Your Own Cookbook : Participants compile a personalised cookbook featuring all the delicious recipes they’ve mastered during the program. It’s a great way to remember their achievements and continue cooking at home.
  • Emotional Awareness and Self-Regulation : Cooking can be therapeutic, helping participants manage their emotions and develop self-regulation techniques. The process of preparing and cooking a meal encourages mindfulness and focus, contributing to overall emotional well-being.
  • Skills Development and Employment Opportunities : Our program helps participants develop new skills and interests, paving the way for positive employment opportunities in the future. Whether it’s a passion for cooking or an interest in the food industry, these new skills can lead to exciting career paths.
  • Well-being, Self-Awareness, and Self-Care : Cooking promotes a sense of well-being, as participants become more aware of their own needs and how to care for themselves through healthy eating. The skills learned in the kitchen can extend into other areas of self-care and personal development.
  • Increased Confidence, Independence, and Self-Esteem : As participants master new recipes and techniques, they build confidence in their abilities, gaining a sense of independence and self-esteem. The program empowers them to take charge of their meals and feel proud of their culinary creations.
  • Social Responsibility and Higher Independence : Cooking is a social activity that teaches responsibility, from managing ingredients to cleaning up after a meal. Participants learn to take care of themselves and others, contributing to a greater sense of social responsibility.
